How do I complete identity verification?

Identity verification is an important process to confirm that you are the real person applying for the loan. This step helps protect you against fraud, identity theft, and other financial crimes.

What documents do I need?

You just need 1 valid government-issued ID. Make sure you have one of the following ready:

  • SSS ID
  • UMID
  • Passport
  • Driver's License
  • PhilSys ID or ePhilID.

Selfie: You will also have to take a photo of your face taken live directly from the Tala app.

Steps to complete verification

Completing the process is very simple and will only take you a few minutes:

  1. Log in: Enter your Tala app with your 4-digit PIN.
  2. Start the process: On the home screen, tap the "Verify identity" button or click "View loan offer" to see the requirements.
  3. Upload your documents: Follow the app's instructions to take clear photos of your ID. Make sure there are no reflections and that the text is readable.
  4. Take the selfie: Make sure you have good lighting and follow the on-screen instructions.

Frequently asked questions about the process

How long does the review take? It usually only takes a few minutes. We'll notify you through the app as soon as your documents have been reviewed and your account has been updated.

What happens if my documents are rejected? If there's a problem (like a blurry photo), we'll contact you to let you know what needs to be corrected. You'll have the chance to resubmit your documents immediately.

Is my information safe? Absolutely. We take the security of your data very seriously. We use high-level encryption and security protocols in compliance with personal data protection legislation.

How many times do I need to do this? Normally, you only need to complete verification once, when applying for your first loan. You will only be asked again if there is a legal or regulatory change that requires updating your records.

Remember to keep your notifications active to receive an alert as soon as your loan is ready to be cashed out.
